Rohr Riverside
Lester Hoy Matheny was born in Pickett County, Tennessee on July 13, 1931 to Atha and Thomas Edison Matheny.
He served in the United States Air Force, during the Korean War, which was a very important part of his life.
Les took immense pride in his professional life and was employed at Rohr Aircraft and Rohr Industries Inc. in Riverside. He worked in Manufacturing Research, Tool Manufacturing, as a Manufacturing Research Group Leader, Supervisor - Prototype & Development Shop in the V2500 Program (1986), and General Supervisor. As Supervisor in Manufacturing Technology, "his excellent skills and abilities led his team in meeting the delivery commitment for the first prototype test article for GE's UDF."
In March of 1984, Les was selected by his department to attend 10 sessions of Management Development Seminars for Supervisors.
Les was named as one of Rohr Riverside's outstanding PRIDE "Personal Responsibility in Daily Effort" Employees in September 1984, July 1985, and October of 1985.
Les was named a Supervisor of the Month in Fiscal Year 1985.
In October of 1985, Les was selected as a recipient of a Chairman's Award at Rohr Industries.
Les retired from Rohr Industries in February of 1987 after 30 years of service. He was a faithful Christian at Harvest Christian Fellowhip and enjoyed Bible Study.
Les lived in Riverside, Jurupa Valley, Mira Loma, and was a long time resident of Norco.
Lester passed away on August 19, 2020, he was 89 years old.
