Winston W. "Win" Levacy

Win was born to James and Maud Levacy on December 5, 1927, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He grew up in Portales, New Mexico. He was married to his wife June Council on November 3, 1945, in Wellington, Texas.
In 1946, Winston joined the United States Army and became a POW before the end of World War II in Yugoslavia. In 1952 he moved to Riverside, California, and went to work at Rohr Aircraft. In September of 1958 Win was promoted from Drop Hammer Opr. A to Leadman in the Drop Hammer department. He retired as a shop foreaen in 1988 after 34 years at Rohr. He was a member of the Aircraft Machinists Union #964 and the American Legion. In retirement Winston returned to Portales and worked as the Director of the Cow County Hoedown Association and joined the VFW #9515.
He enjoyed square dancing, gardening, traveling, hunting and listening to country music.
Win passed away on August 25, 2008 in Portales.
